MDMK on Saturday formally announced its withdrawal from the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance after nine years. A resolution adopted at a party meeting alleged that attempts were made within the alliance to weaken MDMK's identity and overlook its legacy during the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. The party further said it would decide on future alliances at an appropriate time.
