Section 163 imposed around Jamia amid protests for students' union polls

Delhi Police has enforced Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) around the Jamia Millia Islamia campus, banning the assembly of five or more persons. The prohibitory order comes amid continuing protests demanding the restoration of the students' union, which has not been convened since 2006. Several entry gates of the university were also reportedly sealed through welding.
