Criminal prosecution can't be used to force someone for marriage: SC
The Supreme Court quashed a rape case against a man in Bilaspur, ruling that a consensual 3-year relationship cannot be criminalised simply because marriage didn't materialise. The bench held that criminal prosecution cannot be a "strong-arm tactic" to compel marriage, and undertakings made under threat of prosecution cannot constitute a promise to marry.
