Congress MP Jairam Ramesh recalled the Suez Crisis of 1956 as the world deals with the partial closure of the Strait of Hormuz. The Suez Crisis was triggered after Egypt nationalised the Suez Canal, leading to an invasion by an alliance of Britain, France, and Israel. However, the allies withdrew after US President Dwight D Eisenhower threatened them with sanctions.
