K'taka HC denies maintenance to wife who left husband to care for parents during COVID

Karnataka High Court denied maintenance to a woman who allegedly left her husband's home to care for her parents after they contracted COVID-19 in 2021 and refused to return. HC noted that she failed to establish a "reasonable cause" for leaving her matrimonial home and produce any substantive proof of harassment or cruelty. "The grant [maintenance] isn't automatic," HC added.
