AI is not causing mass layoffs in India's IT sector but is instead changing work organisation, increasing productivity and transforming employee roles, an OpenAI-backed study by Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) said. The study, based on a survey of 650 IT companies across 10 cities, examined changes in the hiring patterns and workforce skilling among others.
