The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has ordered states not to issue new mining leases in the Aravalli Hills, amid uproar over the new definition of the hills. "This prohibition applies uniformly across the entire Aravalli landscape and is intended to preserve the integrity of the range from Gujarat to the National Capital region," the government added.
