Maharashtra bans non-dairy paneer, violators to face 6 months in jail
Maharashtra has banned manufacture and sale of analogue or non-dairy paneer (made from vegetable oils, starches, emulsifiers and additives), with violations attracting up to six months in jail and a fine of ₹1 lakh. The move is aimed at curbing sale of fake and adulterated dairy products. It makes Maharashtra the second state after Chhattisgarh to impose such a ban.
