OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said four years of university may not always be the best use of a young person's time, reflecting on his own experience. He said two years gave him what he needed and staying longer likely would have brought diminishing returns. Altman left Stanford in 2005 to co-found Loopt, which later joined Y Combinator's first batch.
