8 sitting UDP MLAs join BJP in Meghalaya, both parties are part of same coalition

Eight sitting MLAs from Meghalaya's United Democratic Party (UDP) joined BJP at party headquarters in Delhi. They include Cabinet Minister & MLA Lahkmen Rymbui. Both UDP and BJP are part of NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government, but UDP's strength fell from 12 to four and BJP's rose from two to 10, making it the second-largest party in the Meghalaya Assembly.
