Typhoon Dolphin choking India's monsoon rain from 4,000 km away

Typhoon Dolphin, which hit China with winds of around 151 kmph, is indirectly weakening India’s monsoon nearly 4,000 km away. A hyperactive Pacific and El Niño-like conditions are altering atmospheric circulation, suppressing convection and reducing rain-bearing systems over the Bay of Bengal. However, Pacific disturbances can also trigger monsoon low-pressure systems.
