The consumption of mustard oil is banned in the US because of Erucic acid. According to the US FDA, the amount of Erucic acid in mustard oil is quite high. It's harmful for health as it's not metabolised properly and has detrimental effect on brain cells as well. In addition, it also leads to increased accumulation of fat in body.
