short by Neeraja Nath / on Monday, 9 February, 2026
Bengal batter Sudip Kumar Gharami smashed 299(596) against Andhra in Ranji Trophy quarterfinal on Monday. He is the first Indian and the third cricketer overall after New Zealand's Martin Crowe and England's Michael Powell to be dismissed on 299 in first-class cricket. Gharami's knock was the sixth-longest (in terms of balls faced) in India's first-class history.
