4,200 books withdrawn from circulation in J&K, 94% from Kashmir

Over 4,200 books have been withdrawn from circulation in Jammu and Kashmir for containing "objectionable material", the government told the Assembly on Tuesday. A majority, 3,996, or nearly 94%, of books were withdrawn in the Kashmir division, while 253 were withdrawn in Jammu. The government has examined over 21 lakh books and publications across the Union Territory so far.
