Scientists at University of Geneva developed MangroveGS, an AI tool that predicts whether a cancer is likely to spread with about 80% accuracy, aiding early diagnosis. By studying colon tumour cells, they identified gene patterns which can be converted into reliable predictions matching cell's ability to spread. Notably, it can work directly with tumour samples collected in hospitals.
