Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Wednesday that the upcoming Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train will reduce travel time between Mumbai and Pune to just 48 minutes. "This means that Mumbai and Pune will become twin cities, and this facility will become a very good economic corridor," he stated. Vaishnaw added that the "bullet train will begin operation next year".
