At least 54 tigers have died in Madhya Pradesh in 2025, the most in a year since the launch of Project Tiger in 1973. Data revealed that nearly 57% of these deaths are classified as "unnatural", attributed to causes such as poaching, electrocution, or unexplained circumstances. Tiger deaths have been increasing in Madhya Pradesh since 2021, when 34 tigers died.
