Rare 'Dual-Sex' Crab discovered in Kerala

A rare 'dual-sex' freshwater crab has been discovered in Kerala’s Silent Valley National Park that displays both male and female physical characteristics. Calling the feature a survival tactic, lead researcher behind the discovery said, "This makes it possible for the crab to procreate in the absence of male or female members." This is first-ever such instance in crab family Gecarcinucidae.
