Russia's oil product imports hit record 1.72 lakh tonnes in August

Russia imported a record 1,72,000 tonnes of petroleum products in August 2026, over seven times its previous monthly high, driven by Ukrainian drone strikes on its refineries. Around 70% came from India's Vadinar refinery, owned partly by Russia's Rosneft. South Korea and Turkey also supplied fuel, as Russia faced severe domestic shortages.
