Scientists confirm first-ever cases of Feline Marfan Syndrome in cat siblings

Cornell University researchers have documented first known cases of Marfan syndrome in domestic cats, involving brothers Gary and Shaggy. The inherited connective-tissue disorder caused unusually long limbs, eye abnormalities and enlarged aortas. Both cats carried two altered copies of the FBN1 gene, yet survived into adulthood because their specific genetic variant retained some normal function.
