University in Gujarat develops low-cost diabetes test using waste copper

Researchers at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in Gujarat have developed a low-cost method to test diabetes using waste copper. During laboratory trials, the researchers used nanotechnology to convert waste copper into a special nano-enzyme capable of detecting glucose in the human body. The presence of glucose is identified through a colour change, a researcher said.
