Chinese AI startup StepFun, founded by former Microsoft employees in 2023, launched the world's first mass-market AI smartphone, StepX Neo. The phone has a built-in AI agent, Step Amoo, that handles end-to-end tasks on its own on StepFun's own OS, Step AOS. Step Amoo can work even without network connectivity and perform multi-step tasks based on a single natural-language request.
