Aliyev added he regretted that "some circles" in Russia had tried to hush up the truth about the crash by sowing false narratives. South Africa reach World Test Championship final

Two people have been found alive and the remaining 179 have been presumed dead after a Jeju Air plane crashed at South Korea's Muan International Airport. The flight from Bangkok with 175 passengers and six crew on board, was attempting to land when it belly-landed and veered off the runway, erupting in a fireball.

BSNL may lay off 19,000 employees via VRS: Report

The government-owned BSNL is planning to lay off around 19,000 employees or 35% of its workforce through a second voluntary retirement (VRS) scheme. The proposal is awaiting approval from Ministry of Finance. BSNL has sought ₹15,000 crore to meet costs of the proposed VRS. BSNL is aiming to bring its wage bill to about ₹5,000 crore from nearly ₹7,500 crore.

India's 37-year-old Grandmaster Koneru Humpy has become the women's world Rapid chess champion for the second time. Humpy won the women's World Rapid Chess Championship 2024 with 8.5 points. She had previously won the World Rapid Chess Championship in 2019. She has become only the second player after China’s Ju Wenjun to clinch the title more than once.
