The Delhi High Court said the name of the late industrialist Ratan Tata is a "well-known personal name or trademark" which must be protected from any unauthorised use. The court remarked in a case filed by Ratan Tata Trust against a journalist hosting an award show named 'Ratan Tata Icon Award'. The lawsuit alleged that the show exploited Tata's goodwill.
