After failing to pass Women’s Reservation Bill in Lok Sabha, the Centre released FAQs explaining its timing. It said the move aimed to ensure women get 33% quota in 2029 Lok Sabha polls without waiting for Census and delimitation processes. If passed, it would've enabled earlier implementation. Proposal to increase LS seats was based on proportional expansion approach, it stated.
