PhonePe gets UAE central bank in-principle approval

PhonePe has received in-principle approval from the UAE central bank for two licenses — Retail Payment Services and Card Schemes (RPSCS) and Stored Value Facilities (SVF). Final regulatory sign-off is still required before commercial operations begin. PhonePe aims to partner with regional banks and tech vendors to support UAE's digital payment ecosystem.
