Qualcomm on Wednesday announced it will buy AI startup Modular for nearly $4 billion to boost its AI software capabilities. Qualcomm is expected to issue up to 19.2 million shares of its common stock to Modular equity holders. Modular's software is used to "infer" or run AI models, with the deal expected to better position Qualcomm in the inference market.
