At least two lakh kirana stores were forced to shut down in the past year, a market study by All India Consumer Products Distributors Federation found. "Rise of quick commerce, combined with economic slowdown, has created an existential challenge for kirana stores," its National President Dhairyashil Patil said. Metropolitan areas were significantly impacted, accounting for 45% of store shutdowns.
