World's youngest person euthanised in Netherlands was 2-year-old

The first terminally ill child to be euthanised in the Netherlands in 2025 was only two years old, becoming the youngest person in the world to die by euthanasia, government announced. Born at 26 weeks, the premature birth had caused extensive brain damage. The Netherlands legalised euthanasia for severely ill children between the ages of one and 12 in 2024.
