East Bengal's Tanaka becomes 1st Japanese female footballer to join an Indian club

East Bengal Women have signed Japanese defender Hitomi Tanaka ahead of their AFC Women's Champions League campaign. Tanaka has become the first Japanese female footballer to join an Indian club. The Yokohama-born defender previously played in Spain and the Netherlands and joins East Bengal from the Dutch Eredivisie Vrouwen side Hera United Women.
