Perimenopause is the time around menopause when a woman's ovaries gradually stop working, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine. "No two women will experience perimenopause in the same way. Perimenopause doesn't need to be treated unless symptoms are bothersome," Johns Hopkins Medicine stated. Its symptoms include headaches, night sweats, hot flashes, vaginal dryness and mood changes.
