WABetaInfo, that tracks WhatsApp, reported that WhatsApp is planning to display names of contacts who are currently online without opening the chats in its 2.24.25.30 update. However, the feature that shows online contacts is currently under development and would not show a contact as online if the user has hidden their online status, the report added.
