Genetic mutations reported among people who lived near North Korean nuclear site
A study by South Korea’s Ministry said nuclear tests at North Korea’s Punggye-ri site likely caused genetic mutations among residents. The report found chromosomal abnormalities in people from the area who later defected to South Korea. North Korea conducted nuclear tests at Punggye-ri in 2006 and 2016, while a tunnel collapse there in 2017 reportedly killed 200 workers.
