3 Durga Puja committees get notice over safety lapses after Kolkata stampede

West Bengal Fire and Emergency Services Department has issued notices to three Durga Puja committees in South Kolkata over alleged fire safety lapses. This follows the Chorbagan pandal stampede that claimed 19 lives in Kolkata. The authorities raised concerns about LPG cylinders being stored near structures made of highly inflammable materials and directed the removal of hazardous stalls.
