Hidden piece of crust shows Scandinavia was formed 3.75 bn yrs ago

Scientists unearthed a hidden segment of Earth's crust, estimated to be over 3 billion years old, within Finland's ancient mountains. The rock suggests Denmark and Scandinavia formed around 3.75 billion years ago in Greenland, much earlier than previously thought. Analysis of zircon crystals by University of Copenhagen scientists confirmed they match chemical signatures found in Greenlandic rocks.
