NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, combined with optical data from the Legacy Surveys, has captured a striking image of the Champagne Cluster, a rare system formed by the merger of two galaxy clusters. The cluster's unusual structure includes vertically stretched, superheated gas and two dense concentrations of galaxies, pointing to a violent cosmic collision.
