Centre has amended Conduct of Election Rules, restricting public access to election-related documents such as CCTV footage as well as video recordings of candidates. Law Ministry said a court case was what prompted government to amend rules. However, documents such as nomination forms and election account statements mentioned in Conduct of Election Rules will be available for public inspection.
