Researchers develop low-cost artificial cornea from fish scales

Researchers at Spain's University of Granada developed an artificial cornea made from scales of several fish species. "This product is very accessible, easy to obtain and inexpensive, and could help boost the local fishing industry," a researcher said. It could be useful for corneal repair and regeneration, and may potentially be used as alternative to donor transplants for eye diseases.
