Dr R Sreedher, a veteran radio broadcaster with over five decades of experience, has been awarded the Padma Shri. Known as the 'Father of Community Radio' in India, he launched the country's first community radio station in 2004 and helped establish over 300 stations. He also pioneered interactive radio programmes and used satellite technology to connect remote regions via INSAT-1B.
