short by Daisy Mowke / on Thursday, 3 October, 2024
A recent Lancet study suggested that banning the sale of cigarettes and other tobacco products to people born between 2006 and 2010 could prevent 40% of all lung cancer deaths in 185 countries by 2095. This birth cohort includes 650 million people, and estimates indicate that 1.2 million lung cancer deaths could be avoided if smoking were eliminated.
