Scientists have discovered the remains of a massive supervolcano deep beneath England's east coast that erupted with the power of several thousand hydrogen bombs around 454 million years ago. It was active roughly 200 million years before dinosaurs walked the planet. The eruption was among the largest in history, and a similar-scale eruption today could pose existential threat to humanity.
