Sensex climbs 600 points, Nifty closes above 23,400

Indian markets closed higher on Monday with Sensex up by 600 points to around 74,895 and the Nifty gained 83 points to close at 23,429 at the pre-CAS close. Pharmaceutical companies gained around 1.27% and were trading higher while infrastructure and PSU banks ended trading lower. Bharti Airtel was one of the top laggards on Nifty as it fell 3.33%.
