Ayatollah Alireza Arafi has been named as Iran's interim Supreme Leader, state-linked ISNA and IRNA news agencies reported. This comes after Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in US and Israeli strikes. Arafi, a close aide of Khamenei, was elected as a jurist on the temporary leadership council, which will exercise the Supreme Leader’s power during the transition.
