Argentina legend Lionel Messi retired from international football on Monday after a 21-year career. The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner lifted the FIFA World Cup in 2022, lifted the Copa America twice in 2021 and 2024, and clinched Olympic gold in Beijing in 2008. Messi earlier retired briefly after the Copa America 2016 final loss to Chile.
