How NASA image tool is helping uncover ancient paintings?

A NASA-developed image technique has helped archaeologists uncover faded paintings at Cambodia's Angkor Wat and other ancient sites. Known as decorrelation stretch, the method enhances contrast in digital images, making barely visible details easier to detect. Rock art enthusiast Jon Harman adapted the technique for archaeology after seeing its use on images of Mars.
