Supreme Court called Patna High Court's observations on a widow not needing make-up as "highly objectionable". It said, "A sweeping observation of this nature isn't commensurate with....sensitivity and neutrality expected from a court of law." It was hearing appeals against a HC verdict in a 1985 murder case, in which a woman was killed for possession of her father's house.
