Why are F1 races in Singapore held at night?
The Singapore Grand Prix became F1's first-ever night race when it debuted at Marina Bay Street Circuit in 2008. The timing was chosen partly to cater to the sport's large European TV audience, as an 8 pm local start converts to an afternoon broadcast in Western Europe. Night racing also helps drivers avoid Singapore's intense daytime heat and high humidity.
