The Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (HSCPCR) has directed all government, private and aided schools to discontinue mandatory knotted ties, citing the risk of choking. The advisory follows the death of a seven-year-old boy in Bhiwani, who was accidentally strangled by his school tie while playing at home. The commission recommended replacing them with breakaway ties.
