A mysterious green glow was recently seen in the sky in the US' Hawaii, with experts saying that it was caused by an atmospheric phenomenon called 'airglow'. Under 'airglow', molecules split during the day due to sunlight and then recombine at night, releasing light. The green colour is emitted when oxygen atoms high above the Earth give out excess energy.
