Elon Musk's Tesla has said its remote human operators can take control of its self-driving vehicles in emergencies. The disclosure came as part of an inquiry by US Senator Edward J Markey, which also prompted six other firms to share details of their "remote assistance" programmes. However, the companies did not reveal how often such human intervention is required.
